Rapid Wien shirt worn by Trifon Ivanov in an unknown game from the 1996/1997 UEFA Champions League group stage. Shirt comes from the personal collection of the legendary Bulgarian defender. Rapid qualified for the group stage of the most prestigious club tournament after eliminating the Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kiev. The "iron" defender played a key role, scoring 2 goals in the away match at the Kyiv Olympic Stadium, in front of 70,000 spectators. In the group stage, however, Rapid were unfortunate against Manchester United, Juventus and Fenerbahce with fellow teammate from the national team Emil Kostadinov, recording only 2 draws in their home matches against the Turkish and Italian champions. Ivanov won the Austrian League title and League cup with Rapid, recording 53 games in the period 1995 - 1997, scoring 7 goals. He is also Cup Winners' Cup runner-up with the Austrian side. The "iron" defender Ivanov, nicknamed "Tunio", earned 76 caps for Bulgaria, scoring 6 goals over a ten-year international career. He was part of the squad at the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cups. "Tunio" is three times champion of Bulgaria with CSKA Sofia (1989, 1990, 1992) and has won the League cup in 1989. He was voted Bulgarian Footballer of the Year in 1996.
