In 2001, "Gonzo" won the Bulgarian Golden Boot award after scoring 22 goals and helping Levski won the golden medals. In 2000 and 2001, Georgi Ivanov was named Bulgarian Footballer of the Year and to date is the all time top goal scorer in the Bulgarian "Eternal Derby" (15 goals versus CSKA Sofia).
