Bulgaria shirt issued to Vasil Metodiev for the 1966 FIFA World Cup in England. The former Lokomotiv Sofia star midfielder and legendary coach of Levski Sofia was part of Rudolf Vytlacil's squad at the Mundial but remained an unused substitute in all three matches for his country. Bulgaria finished bottom of Group 3 (behind Portugal, Hungary and Brazil) and did not advance to the knockout stage. Metodiev, nickname "Shpaidela", was capped 17 times for the national team in the period 1960 - 1965. He won the Bulgarian League title with Lokomotiv Sofia as a player (1964) and as a coach (1978). Metodiev is three times champion of Bulgaria with Levski Sofia as a coach (1984, 1985, 1988) and has won the League cup on 2 occasions (1984, 1991).
